Application Title:

Scalable Expansion for Stem Cell-derived Therapies

Public Abstract:
Succesful completion of this proposal will identify a scalable process that supports iPSC expansion, T cell expansion, and cardiomyocyte maturation / expansion that is ready for validation in a large scale bioreactor (25 - 2000L) and tech transfer to GMP manufacturing.
Statement of Benefit to California:
Creating low cost scalable allogeneic therapies democratizes cell and gene therapy modalities, allowing for clinical treatment for life-saving measures of underserved populations of California and facilitating development of treatments for rare conditions. Programs to support trainees during hands-on thesis projects in Cell and Gene Therapy lowers the financial risk of Masters programs, creating a more inclusive workforce to reflect the diversity of California.
