Clinical Trial Stage Funding Opportunities

UPDATE: In response to the large volume of clinical grant applications and resulting review and budgetary issues, CIRM will not be accepting new CLIN1 or CLIN2 applications through the June ICOC meeting, at which time circumstances will be reevaluated to determine the course of action going forward.

This action will not impact the review and approval of applications submitted on or before January 31st or the processing of any Tier 2 resubmissions, or to our previously issued or approved awards. In addition, CLIN4 applications will be accepted in April as previously scheduled. Click here to read the public memo. Click here to read FAQ’s regarding this action.

CLIN 1: Late Stage Preclinical Projects

CLIN 2: Clinical Trial Stage Projects

 Objective

The mission of California Institute for Regenerative Medicine (CIRM) is to accelerate world class science to deliver transformative regenerative medicine treatments in an equitable manner to a diverse California and world. With this initiative, we intend to speed up support for clinical stage candidate stem cell treatments that demonstrate scientific excellence. Under this initiative, we will provide funding for eligible projects that are completing late stage preclinical development through any stage of clinical trial activity.

Please note that acceptance of applications for CLIN1 and CLIN2 are postponed until the end of June 2024.

CLIN 4: Late Stage Development Projects

Objective

With this initiative, we intend to speed up support late-stage clinical candidate stem cell and genetic therapy treatments to Biologics License Application (BLA) readiness.

Effective immediately, CIRM is establishing an open call for proposals and will accept applications monthly for the late-stage development CLIN4 award type described in the Program Announcement listed below.

Applications for CLIN 4 will be available in the grants management portal no later than March 31, 2024. Until that time, prospective applicants are encouraged to preview the proposal template and Activity Based Budget (ABB) spreadsheet posted below.
