In the second year of this training award, we have built a cohort of PhD students, postdocs, and clinical fellows at our institution. This includes appointing trainees at all levels, over the course of the second reporting period. Trainees enrolled in key courses in stem cell biology and regenerative medicine, attended retreats where scientific progress was shared and faculty gave career guidance, and engaged in outreach efforts. Since starting their CIRM fellowships on this training award, trainees have published 20 manuscripts related to stem cell biology and regenerative medicine in highly, many in highly regarded journals.
