This proposal aimed to establish a new human blood brain barrier model using iPSCs and a novel “chip” technology provided by the company Emulate. Work toward the completion of the originally proposed milestones resulted in data that contributed to a recently funded 5-year NIH grant. This was the aim of these early development projects and we are very thankful to CIRM for their choosing our project and supplying critical resources to move this project forward. The new BBB model will now be used to model both ALS and PD using patient specific iPSCs.
