Year 1
The UCLA-UCI Alpha Stem Cell Clinic (ASCC) is a first-of-its-kind collaboration between the University of California, Los Angeles, Eli and Edythe Broad Center of Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cell Research and University of California, Irvine Sue & Bill Gross Stem Cell Research Center. The ASCC provides world-class state-of-the-art infrastructure to accelerate the implementation of clinical trials and delivery of stem cell therapies.
To date, the ASCC has initiated nine Phase 1 – Phase 3 clinical trials for patients with retinitis pigmentosa, HIV, genetic diseases, such as sickle cell and “bubble baby” disease, stroke, and traumatic brain injury. The ASCC website https://www.stemcell.ucla.edu/cirm-ucla-uci-alpha-stem-cell-clinic provides up-to-date information on the current stem cell clinical trials at the Clinic, stem cell clinical trials that are in the pipeline and set to open in the near future, as well as links to the City of Hope and UC San Diego ASCCs, and the CIRM Clinical Trials page.
Specific information about each UCLA-UCI ASCC clinical trial, such as enrollment status and patient eligibility criteria can be accessed by clicking on the respective trial titles. Each trial is hyperlinked to its respective trial page on ClinicalTrials.gov, which is a registry and results database of publicly and privately supported clinical studies conducted around the world.
