Spotlight on Macular Degeneration: Seminar by Mark Humayun, M.D., Ph.D.

Mark Humayun, M.D., Ph.D. spoke at the “Spotlight on Macular Degeneration,” an educational event presented at the CIRM Governing Board meeting on April 29, 2009. Humayun has a CIRM disease team award to develop stem cell based treatment strategies for age-related macular degeneration. Humayun is professor of ophthalmology, biomedical engineering, and cell and neurobiology at the University of Southern California. He is also the Cornelius Pings professor of biomedical sciences.

Humayun was introduced by his colleague, David Hinton, M.D. Hinton is a professor of pathology, neurosurgery, and ophthalmology at the Keck School of Medicine of USC.

The CIRM-hosted event was presented at the University of Southern California in partnership with the Keck School of Medicine of USC.
