Biotech Perspectives for Stem Cell Research: Don Francis

Donald Francis, M.D., D.Sc., spoke at the Scientific Writer’s Seminar, a workshop presented on September 17, 2008 at CIRM headquarters in San Francisco. Francis provided a perspective of the current progress in stem cell research by comparing it to the fears and eventual successes of genetic engineering. He also briefly reviewed Irvin Chen’s current research efforts to genetically engineer stem cells to resist infection by HIV.

Francis is executive director of the Global Solutions for Infectious Disease.
