CIRM May Digest


On May 14th, UC Irvine held the grand opening of their newly constructed Sue & Bill Gross Hall. This was one of 12 facilities throughout California that received a CIRM Major Facilities Award to construct space for stem cell research. Their facility opening was the first for a newly constructed building.

Awards

On May 05, Robert Klein, chair of the CIRM Governing Board, received the 2010 BioTech Humanitarian Award, given each year to recognize everyday heroes within the biotechnology community who have helped heal, fuel and feed the planet through their work.

The Human BioMolecular Research Insitute(HBRI) presented Disease Advocate Awards to CIRM Governing Board members Joan Samuelson and David Serrano Sewell at a “Celebration of Stem Cell Research” in San Diego on May 21.
