Year 1

During the current reporting period, the scientific training program has provided support for postdoctoral fellows to receive instruction and engage in research related to stem cell biology. This includes projects geared toward the ultimate application of stem cell technology to the treatment of human neurodegenerative disease. The program has contributed to and strengthened the future of stem cell research in California by helping to prepare new investigators for a career in stem cell research. It is expected that their current and future accomplishments in this field will contribute to the search for new therapy for diseases that are currently untreatable.
