CIRM Funding Opportunities
Discovery
Apply for our Discovery Stage Research funding opportunities
- The application for the Foundation Awards (DISC 0) is closed. DISC 0 opportunities recur annually.
- Submission Deadline: Applications are due by 2pm on November 14, 2023.
- Application Availability: Applications for each cycle will be available no later than one month prior to the submission deadline for that cycle.
- The application for the Quest Awards (DISC 2) is closed. DISC 2 opportunities recur annually.
- Submission Deadline: Applications are due by 2pm on May 14, 2024.
Translational
Apply for our Translational Research funding opportunities
- The applications for the Translational Stage Research Awards (TRAN 1, 2, 3, and 4) are available in the CIRM Grants Management Portal. TRAN 1, 2, 3, and 4 opportunities recur biannually.
- Submission Deadlines: Applications are due by 2pm on June 13 and December 5, 2023.
Clinical
Apply for our Clinical Trial Stage funding opportunities
- Applications for the Clinical Stage Research Program (CLIN 1 and 2) are available in the CIRM Grants Management Portal. CLIN opportunities recur monthly.
- Submission Deadlines: Applications are due by 2pm on June 30, July 31, August 31, September 29, November 14, and December 29, 2023.
Education
Apply for our Educational Program funding opportunities.
- The application for the Conference Grants (EDUC 1) is available in the CIRM Grants Management Portal. EDUC 1 opportunities recur quarterly.
- Submission Deadlines: Applications are due by 2pm on May 31, August 31, November 30, 2023. Applications must be submitted at least 90 days prior to the first day of the conference.
- The application for the 2024 CIRM Annual Trainee Network Conference (EDUC 1.12) is available in the CIRM Grants Management Portal.
- Submission Deadline: The application is due by 2pm on October 24, 2023.
- The RFA for the 2024 SPARK Annual Meeting (EDUC 1.5) is available in the CIRM Educational Program funding opportunities page. The application will be available to access in the Grants Management Portal by late October.
- Submission Deadline: The application is due by 2pm on November 30, 2023.
Infrastructure

- The application for the California Cell and Gene Therapy Manufacturing Network, Phase One Awards (INFR 5) is closed.
- The application for the Shared Resource Laboratories (SRLs) for Stem Cell-Based Modeling (INFR 6.1 and INFR 6.2) is closed.
- The application for the CIRM Patient Support Program Services (INFR 7) is available in the CIRM Grants Management Portal.
