States like California free stem cell scientists from legal and funding uncertainties

In this video shot at the 11th annual meeting of the International Society for Stem Cell Research (ISSCR), Don Gibbons of California’s Stem Cell Agency talks to Aaron Levine of Georgia Tech about his work looking at how state funding impacts research. He basically says that states like California help boost research because they free scientists from the fluctuations of federal funding and the uncertainty that a lawsuit like Shirley vs Sibelius can cause (read one of our blogs about that lawsuit).
