Ray, Erik, Dustin, & Matthew – High School Stem Cell Research Interns – Summer 2013

Ray Solis is a High Tech High North County student, Erik Owen is a Westview High School student, Dustin Nguyen is a Crawford High School student and Matthew Wood is a University City High School student. They all are doing a stem cell research internships this summer in the labs of Jiang Zhu, Bruce Torbett, Nicolas Schork and Jim Paulson at The Scripps Research Institute. Their internships are funded by California’s Stem Cell Agency (CIRM) through the CIRM Creativity Awards grant.  This year, we decided to let the students tell their own stories about life in the lab and their hopes for the future. During the course of their internships, we’ve asked them to submit YouTube videos as well as Instagram photos and a blog about their experience. Visit our Through Their Lens page for photos and more videos from students and grantees.
