RFA 08-04: CIRM Bridges to Stem Cell Research Awards
(amended as of 7/22/08)
Fulfilling the mission of the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine – to promote rapid progress in stem cell research leading to treatments and cures for diseases and to the growth of a stem cell and regenerative medicine industry critical to future clinical applications – will require an expanding pool of professionals with specialized training, interests, and skills.
To strengthen the ranks of laboratory personnel trained in the most current techniques required by stem cell research labs, CIRM announces the “Bridges to Stem Cell Research Awards”. These awards will fund undergraduate and Master’s level students engaged in stem cell research via internships and associated training activities. These CIRM-supported Research Internships will be integrated with educational programs that provide comprehensive preparation in lecture and laboratory courses, facilitate internship placement, and advise and mentor students on research progress and career opportunities.
Please see the RFA for full details:
Please note that this RFA has been amended as of 7/22/08. Key amendments include:
- restriction on maximum number of partnering institutions
- allowance for two internship types or tiers within one program
- additional application section: Part C, Internship Host Lab Summary
