CIRM funding of stem cell research
CIRM funds stem cell research at research institutions and companies throughout California. The organization was established in 2004 with the passage of Proposition 71, which provided $3 billion in funding. Our grants support research with embryonic, adult and reprogrammed (iPS) stem cells, all with the goal of bringing new medical therapies to the people of California and the world.
"California is poised to lead not only this country, but all countries on stem cell research. We cannot fall behind the nations who are making this life-saving science a priority" - Read more from Governer Arnold Schwarzenegger
